Beverly A. Marsh
Beverly Marsh received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University and her Juris Doctorate degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. She is admitted to practice law in Ohio and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Bev is also a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Bev's practice includes the preparation and prosecution of trademark and patent applications, both domestic and international. As part of her trademark practice, she advises clients large and small regarding protection and enforcement of their trademarks. Many of her clients have international trademark portfolios, and Bev is experienced in providing guidance regarding both national and international branding and strategies. Her practice also includes the preparation and prosecution of domestic patent applications in the biological and mechanical arts, including both utility and design patents. Bev also prepares patentability opinions and conducts extensive prior art searches. Bev routinely assists clients in obtaining copyright registrations for art, music, books, and software. She also assists clients with licensing matters, including software licensing, as well as preparing agreements pertaining to the ownership of intellectual property rights and confidentiality agreements.
Bev assists clients in disputes involving trademarks, patents, and copyrights. As part of her litigation practice, Bev represents both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court in cases involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Bev represents clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in a variety of trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings. She also assists clients with cease-and-desist type matters, and internet-related disputes involving online marketplaces, social media, and domain names. Bev has represented clients large and small in disputes involving counterfeit goods.
Bev is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and routinely teaches continuing legal education seminars and authors written articles on a variety of intellectual property topics. Bev is also a member of the International Trademark Association (“INTA”) and currently serves on its Pro Bono Committee. Committed to supporting the community, Bev previously served for many years in an appointed position on the City of Hilliard Environmental and Sustainability Commission. Bev is an active member of the Hilliard Rotary Club, where she currently serves as Director. In 2018 Bev was awarded “Rotarian of the Year” in recognition of her contributions to the club. Bev lives in Hilliard with her husband and three daughters. In her spare time, Bev enjoys learning to play the piano and horseback riding.
