Mark R. Engle Associate
Mark Engle received his Bachelor of Science degree from Centre College. He also holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Mark's graduate work and publications involved the generation and analysis of transgenic animal models with altered capacity to detoxify the electrophilic aldehydes that result from oxidative stress. Mark received a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He was recently named an Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Star by Law & Politics. He was also selected as one of BioOhio's Thirty in Their 30s, a "list of 30 of Ohio's best, brightest, and youngest bioscience professionals." Mark is admitted to practice law in Ohio and is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mark currently serves as Vice President of the Columbus Intellectual Property Law Association. He is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association.
Mark is experienced in the preparation and prosecution of domestic and international patent applications involving biotechnology, chemistry, and the mechanical arts. Mark counsels individual and corporate clients on all aspects of patents, including the preparation of oral and written patentability, freedom to practice, non-infringement, and validity opinions. Mark's litigation experience includes appearances in Federal Court and he has served as a case manager in several high profile patent cases.
