Adam Smith received his Juris Doctorate degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he graduated cum laude and in the top 15% of his class. Adam is a registered patent attorney and is licensed to practice law in Ohio and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association, the Columbus Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Bar Association. Adam has authored articles on patent law published in The Ohio State Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal where he also served as an editor and advisor. Adam has also authored articles published in the Ohio State Bar Association's Intellectual Property Section Newsletter.

Prior to joining Standley Law Group LLP, Adam received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Economics from Miami University where he graduated cum laude with honors with distinction. After graduating from Miami University, Adam worked as a mechanical engineer for a prime contractor in the United States Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program. Adam developed, oversaw, and authored technical documents and manuals relating to the production, maintenance, operation, and lifetime needs of nuclear propulsion plants and related components used in submarines and aircraft carriers of the United States Navy.

Adam has experience in the preparation and prosecution of domestic and international patent applications involving the mechanical and electrical arts, including complex medical devices. He also has experience in the preparation of non-infringement opinions, prior art searches, licensing agreements and other transactional documents, as well as pre- and post-grant challenges before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Adam additionally has experience assisting with the litigation of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and other intellectual property matters.
